The Echo Engine outfit, featuring special guest Theo Travis, return with collection of original spontaneous instrumental compositions taken from a live performance at Bournemouth’s Soundcellar venue in March 2025.
The regular trio of Daniel Biro (keyboards), Rob Palmer (guitar) and Adrian Newton (beats) is augmented with the magnificent Theo Travis (Soft Machine, David Gilmour, Steven Wilson) on sax and flute. As on their previous two albums Windjammer (also with Travis) and Be Here Now, Echo Engine offer an intricate and emotionally charged cornucopia of layered exploratory sounds, loops, grooves and melodies, that defy the notion that everything was improvised during the concert with no prior rehearsals.
Reacting to and making space for each other, the musicians fuse into continuously evolving electro-textures while also allowing for individual solos and instrumental dialogues.
The track titles were inspired by Dadaist poet Tristan Tzara’s stream of consciousness word associations that somehow reflect Echo Engine’s in-the-moment and out-of-the-box musical inventions.”
