“This recording, made on a cold February day in St. Louis in a studio with little heat, has lit up the musical world for so many for so long.”-Marty Ehrlich
Dogon A.D., originally release in 1972, on Julius’ own Mbari imprint, was his first release and over the 5 decades has been rightly acclaimed as an important American art release of the 70s.
The original version consisted of 3 songs and was about 38’ long. But there was a fourth track, the great, 20 minute ‘The Hard. Blues’, recorded at the same sessions and originally appended with a different sesson to become the Freedom release ‘Coon Bidness’.
This has the entire hour long session and is a classic.
