“A big band classic. Recorded in Gothenburg in 1960, this is the wonderfully talented orchestra, full of star names which Quincy brought to Europe as part of the Free and Easy Stage show, which failed disastrously and left the band stranded in Paris.
Somehow Quincy kept the eighteen piece band together and they embarked on a concert tour around continental Europe.
Great arrangements abound - some by Ernie Wilkins and five by Jones, standouts being Moanin', Whisper Not and his original Birth of a Band. With Clark Terry, Phil Woods, Quentin Jackson, Budd Johnson.”
