“Originally issued on the Vertigo label in 1971, Local Anaesthetic was the first album to be issued under the Nirvana name to feature writer, vocalist & producer Patrick Campbell Lyons in sole charge of a recording project, following the amicable departure of writing partner Alex Spyropoulos some months before, following a trio of innovative Nirvana albums for Island Records & Pye Records and a UK hit single in the song ‘Rainbow Chaser’.
Lyons had decided to break with what had been doing up to that moment, and came up with an experimental progressive rock album that was perfectly suited for the Vertigo label through which it was released. Musically, it has been compared to "something Frank Zappa could have done". Local Anaesthetic saw Campbell Lyons take a more “progressive” direction, with the album comprising two side long suites which featured guest contributions from saxophonist Mel Collins (King Crimson) and the band Jade Warrior among others.
This Wah Wah reissue is housed in the original gatefold sleeve and features one bonus track with the 1971 single version of The Saddest Day Of My Life. It's the first ever official vinyl reissue since 1971. 500 copies only!"
