Singlelito - Non-Consciousness CD

SKU aMarxe 1025
“A solo, multi-layered album with vocals, blending Canterbury influences like Soft Machine and Hatfield, progressive/symphonic, and Spinetta-esque South American/vocal influences. Including Phil Miller-esque guitar and Dave Stewart-esque keyboards, this album develops a sound that's inflected, fast-paced, and lyrical. A retro yet fresh masterpiece!” – World Disque, Japan

“This really deserves a proper review but as I'm away for a bit tomorrow a few thoughts will have to suffice...
This is probably Facelift's album of the year to date - on the excellent AMarxe label which brought us Amoeba Split and Tom Penaguin, more superb Canterbury-tinged music, courtesy of Colombian multi-instrumentalist Singelito. Got hold of this a month or so ago, and have listened to it every day since, often multiple times.
I'm hearing the raw energy of Soft Machine's Volume 2, the aggression of Quiet Sun, the nibbly bass (?) of Alifib, the songforms of Egg and given that the bonus track is called 'a Lullabye for you but you didn't sleep' the influences are somewhat overt. It's just full of earworms, nicely rough-arsed in places and really rather splendid all round. Highly recommended!” - Phil Howitt / Facelift

"Non-Consciousness" by Singlelito stands out as one of the most fascinating and highly recommended progressive rock albums of 2025. Deeply rooted in the Canterbury tradition, it bridges the whimsical sophistication of classic bands like Soft Machine, Caravan and Hatfield and the North with the vibrant, forward-thinking energy of modern acts such as Zopp and Tom Penaguin. The album thrives on intricate yet organic structures, blending shifting time signatures, contrapuntal interplay and extended harmonic language in a way that feels effortlessly musical. Singlelito's arrangements are rich in detail: melodic bass lines weave around crystalline guitar phrases, while vintage electric pianos and warm analogue organs create lush harmonic textures. The drumming is agile and dynamic, full of subtle syncopations and jazz-inflected flourishes that propel the music with both precision and lightness. Production-wise, "Non-Consciousness" sounds warm, dynamic and spacious, allowing every instrument to breathe and every nuance to surface without losing the collective drive. Each track flows seamlessly into the next, creating the impression of a single evolving suite rather than a mere collection of songs. Inventive, elegant and emotionally resonant, "Non-Consciousness" confirms Singlelito as one of the most exciting new voices in contemporary progressive rock.
