“Wonderful call and responses songs African Caribbean Islands and beyond. The music on this CD is tremendous, especially if you are a fan of folkloric music, and even more particularly than that, folkloric music of the French Caribbean, which is not exactly easy to come by in the United States. In any case, fair to say this is probably a special interest CD, but if you have a special interest in this, I'd consider this an indispensable addition to your music collection. The performances and the material is absolutely first rate.
These selections seem to me to be primarily from Haiti & the Lesser Antilles, but it's really hard to tell from the lack of liner notes, which brings me to my only complaint. There's no explanatory material whatsoever in the package, which is a shame, because I really want to know more about both the performers and the track selections. I was presuming that the countries listed on the cover of the CD were all reflected on the CD itself, but as the bulk of this material seems to all be from Haiti, Guadeloupe & Martinique, I'm thinking that this CD must be part of a series... but unfortunately, there's no information about the series itself on the CD package. Regardless of all that, I'm dying to hear more! Highly recommended!”
