"Jad Fair and Kramer's third collaboration, and their first in almost 20 years; 12 brand new songs produced by Kramer at his Florida studio, Noise Miami. Longtime fans of Jad Fair will be stunned by how he sings on The History Of Crying. No other album in Jad's storied career features him singing complex melodies in the manner he does here. From a life in music spanning over 40 years, it is unlike anything he has ever done before, and it is a wondrous thing to behold. This LP also features guitar solos by Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers), whose contributions cannot be overestimated. BS fans will go hog wild."

SHEER GENIUS. Kramer has really taken his art to the next level. He's making short films and music videos too now, having made 3 for this new LP alone (see the KRAMER and SHIMMY-500 FaceBook pages, or on VIMEO). And for anyone who really loves Jad, he SINGS on this record! IN TUNE, i mean. He's literally CROONING these tunes. No yelling, no screaming, no ranting. These are very melodic and often somber love songs, sung with enormous heart, and produced by Kramer in a way that highlights Jad's voice like no other record he has ever made before. This LP is one of a kind. I've really never heard anything quite like it from Jad, and from Kramer, well, I'm not surprised that after an almost 20 years absence, he's back and he's blowing my mind anew. And this is the first release on his new label, SHIMMY-500. so you could say that SHIMMY-DISC IS BACK, and with a vengeance.
