Received direct from label, unsealed and outer box has some shelf wear. It's not bad, but could be better. I guess that's how these come now, so it is what it is. You have been warned. The box and the booklets are really beautifully done. Now here comes the party line:
"The Art Box marks the 25th anniversary of one of the most eclectic, dynamic and productive creative alliances in the history of experimental music. Featuring...

"Limited one-time collectors' edition released in 2008 and previously only available from MG.ART's mailorder.
The first disc is a remastered version of the 1990 Virgin CD reissue of Correlations, recorded and mixed at Panne-Paulsen Studio, Frankfurt, in 1978 by Mick Glossop and originally released by Virgin in 1979.
The second disc is the first release of Phantasus, Manuel Göttsching and Udo Arndt's original 1978 recording and mix of the album that was partially re-recorded and totally remixed to...

“Wow, this box set is amazing. The remasters are crystal clear and most rewarding. Streetnoise is the real gem in this box but Open runs a close second. I’d forgotten just how talented both Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger are. My only regret is that they did not add either the This Wheels on Fire or Road To Cairo singles for all us completists.”-Robert Styles

“Far Horizons’ presents the groups four legendary studio albums, fully remastered under Brian’s guidance, with digitally restored artwork....

Third album by this British group that came out of the English progressive movement of the 60's. Their music combines elements of The Moody Blues, to whom they are always compared, but also the more mellow parts of early King Crimson and Genesis. This was their 3rd album, released in 1971 and is yet another strong symphonic rock contender.

“This expanded edition of “…Other Short Stories” comprises 40 tracks and features the original UK stereo mix re-mastered from the original master tapes and...

This is a great set of music with a fascinating story. In brief, Harry Bertoia was a jeweler, sculptor and furniture designer (among other things) who, staring in the 50s, began to sculpt sculptures which produced sound, made of tall vertical rods.

In the late 70s, there were 11 privately released recordings made and released by Bertoia. Now for the first time anywhere, all 11 of them are reissued taken from their original master tapes.

This is a must for fans of experimental sounds....

Blue Effect (also sometimes known as Modry Efekt, their name in Czech) released 8 albums in their lifetime, going from 1969-styled r'n'b/beat works to ambitious psych and post-psych works with additional instrumentation to jazz/rock with progressive rock touches to pretty much out and out progressive rock. This has all 8 of their albums plus a bonus disc of singles and rarities.

"The Blue Effect continued in the spirit of The Matadors, playing superb r&b material with Radim Hladik's fuzz guitar..

Arthur burst upon the UK scene with his extraordinary stage show and one huge hit single. After his original band, The Crazy World, fell apart, he regrouped with Kingdom Come, who released 3 albums, all originally unleashed on a unsuspecting public in 1972 & 1973, and they are all unique, crazed, chaotic space-rock albums that deserve closer attention 50 years later.

“A new boxed set featuring all of the albums recorded by the legendary ARTHUR BROWN & KINGDOM COME issued between October 1971...

This is five titles from Billy: Spectrum, Total Eclipse, Crosswinds, A Funky Thide Of Sings and Shabazz!

"Odyssey is the definitive compendium of solo trumpet music by Bill Dixon, as compiled by the artist. Dixon (1925-2010) was known primarily for his small and large ensemble masterpieces of the decades between Intents and Purposes (1967) and Tapestries (2009). While he appeared infrequently in solo performances, he was continually evolving in studio through these years a remarkably nuanced and powerful solo music -- especially during the mid-1970s, as a counterpart to daily work with student orchestras...

“Spittle Records in co-operation with Officine Fonografiche Italiane present The World Of The Doubling Riders, The Doubling Riders' complete works.
The Doubling Riders were born in the middle of the '80s from the ashes of A.T.R.O.X. and around the trio of Francesco Paladino, Pier Luigi Andreoni, and Riccardo Sinigaglia. Especially thanks to their collaboration with international artists such as Pascal Comelade, Ira Stein, and Vox Populi,

“Factory Benelux presents a deluxe edition of Without Mercy, the fourth studio album by cult Manchester group The Durutti Column, originally issued in 1984 and widely regarded as Vini Reilly's most ambitious album. In 1983, Durutti Column mentor/manager Tony Wilson asked Vini Reilly to abandon fleeting guitar miniatures in favor of a long-form modern classical piece. The result was an ambitious 20 minute instrumental suite, Without Mercy, performed by core Durutti duo Vini Reilly and Bruce Mitchell...

This nicely packaged and well put together six CD set also presents the period of the band where I personally start to get really interested in their work. Conditionally highly recommended.

“This boxset brings together two classic albums alongside a host of John Peel sessions, Kamera singles, live performances and the group's live album In A Hole, recorded during their tour of New Zealand and originally released on Flying Nun Records.

“In May 2020 with much of the world in lockdown and reeling from the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, Robert Fripp began uploading the first of 52 individual soundscapes on his YouTube channel, streaming platforms, and DGMLive.
Entitled Music For Quiet Moments and appearing once a week, these pieces created a space for reflection, offering a means of pausing from the day-to-day concerns and to provide a point of calm and perhaps, a sense of hope, in such troubled times.

Fruupp were a very good but basically overlooked Irish progressive band consisting of keyboards/oboe/vocals, guitars/vocals, bass/lead vocals & drums. Their albums were Future Legends (73), Seven Secrets (74), Prince Of Heaven's Eyes and Modern Masquerades (75).
This is all very high-quality stuff; well played and well crafted and performed by a road-tested band that played shows constantly, with a light touch and even some acoustic-ish passages that might remind one of Genesis' early prime...

"Amsterdam based Slovenian pianist and composer Miha Gantar has a very personal and very wide music vision, and the simultaneous release of several of its aspects seems logic, from the point of view of the artist but also of the listener, who is capable, this way, to achieve a complete experience of that sound world of a new, fresh, surprising and much welcomed player in the international creative music game. Each configuration (solo: “Origins of the Pure”; duo: “Songs and Serenades”; trio...

"The legendary jazz recordings made by Black Saint/Soul Note make a welcome return to the active catalog with this series of boxed sets. The set includes the albums Reunion, Arroyo, Trio!, My Panamanian Friend and Dancing to a Different Drummer."

Saddled with what I think is the worst name in the world, this is a band that I used to see in the bins in the early 70s, but never heard and never wanted to hear until I was tipped off that they were actually an extremely good psychedelic / proto-progressive trio!
This includes both of their 1970 studio albums, their first single, as well as a previousy unreleased studio album! Surprisingly great (or at least surprising to me!)

“These days, “prog rock” suggests music with flagrant classical..

OK! It’s not really 100% complete (see below), but there’s a wealth of great stuff and rarities here.

“The title of this boxed set is quite misleading, because Hawkins was a member of Fletcher Henderson's Orchestra for ten years from 1924, and recorded extensively with that outfit. At a conservative estimate, there are some 80 recordings which should have qualified for inclusion, yet not one appears (although his recordings with Fletcher's brother Horace do). Ignoring for a moment the disparity...

For some unfathomable reason, this fine 1975 album, their sixth, has never really been generally reissued and no one really has explained why. It certainly is not because of the quality of the material, because this is considered one of their finest by many and also considered the last of their string of total classics from the early 70s.

This release has the classic lineup of Dave Brock, Nik Turner, Lemmy, Simon House, Simon King and Alan Powell, and was the last album with Lemmy. This is newly..

"In response to the arguably self-righteous pronouncements made in the 1990s as to what jazz is and isn't, Julius Hemphill (1938?1995) spoke up as he had done throughout his career. 'Well, you often hear people nowadays talking about the tradition, tradition, tradition. But they have tunnel vision in this tradition. Because tradition in African- American music is wide as all outdoors.' This collection of music, this celebration of artistic collaborations that engaged Julius Hemphill throughout his life...

For ONE C-note plus, you get everything. Studio, live, outtakes, etc etc etc. Most of you already have this, but if you don’t already have this, it’s a fantastic deal.

Also, just thought I would mention that once upon a time, I got a ride back to London from Guilford Civic Hall, after the show, with the band in the van on the cover on the box!

Newly lowered and extremely attractive pricing on this excellent box set. Hugely recommended to fans of 70s electronic sounds!

Philippe Besombes is a French electronic musician of the 70s and this reissues four of his works from the 70s, both solo and with his group Hydravion.
