There were certainly some mighty, mighty bands in the first wave of jazz/rock in the early 1970s and Herbie's Mwandishi band was one of the mightiest.
This is a radio broadcast from March 22, 1973, in very, very good sound, with some radio interference, of the band circa their final and best album, Sextant.
