Hunt, Max - Hope CD

SKU 23-FTPCD 2025
“This is Max Hunt's first official solo release of song based material. 'Hope' was created during the lock- down period of 2020/21. With all live shows with well known German rock guitarist Siggi Schwarz and other live acts in Germany having been cancelled and all social interaction having been prohibited, Max worked on his own in the studio for many months on this release.
Max performs all instruments on the album and sings lead and backing vocals. Gerlinde Hunt sings additional backing vocals on 3 tracks. Instruments featured on the album include: keyboards, bass guitar, acoustic & electric guitars, lap-steel, lap-harp and various percussion instruments.
For Max 'Hope' represents the personal hope of a renaissance in musical culture and is inspired in part by the despair, anger and depression of this time and conversely the hope, enthusiasm and excitement for a better future. Other inspirations for songs on 'Hope' include: Vicar's talking to Toads, the Bavarian 'Alte Kath Zwiefache' dance, reoccurring childhood dreams, dark age European history, space flight, sci-fi, fantasy, natural sounds, West African Baka polyrhythmic yodelling and language.
As well as continuing work with Siggi Schwarz and Fragile, Max has also worked with Jon Anderson, Steve Howe & Alan White of Yes, ex-Marillion singer Fish (on the 13th Star album), Pete York (The Spencer Davis Group), Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann's Earthband), Frank Diez (Peter Maffay), Nicky James (Denny Laine, The Jamesons, Johnny Walker, The Moody Blues 5), Chris Jagger, late 60s pre- Yes band Mabel Greer's Toyshop, Tantalus and UK TV presenter Johnny Ball. The album comprises approx. 1h 7m of new music, including Progressive Rock, Space Rock and New Age ideas developed in the past and present, including previously unpublished material that was first written during sessions for Jon Anderson and Fish.
The album artwork features stunning 'Fantascape' imagery from US artist Steve Mayerson.”
