Crazy World of Arthur Brown - The Crazy World of Arthur Brown (expanded / remastered) 2 x CDs

SKU 23-Eclec 22178
Really crazed, over the top, UK theatrical, proto-progressive band who are remembered here in the USA for their one and only hit, "Fire" (heard here!), and who are remembered in the UK for their utterly outrageous live shows. The band was bound to collapse, due to the label sending them on a ceaseless string of US shows when Fire became a hit, but the record is a minor classic of crazed psychedelia. It features Arthur on vocals, the great Vince Crane on keyboards (and orchestrations) who later went onto Atomic Rooster, drummer Drachen Theaker (great name or wot?) (who later went onto the brilliant Rustic Hinge) and bassist Sean Nichols.

"The Crazy World of Arthur Brown is a psychedelic rock album by Arthur Brown, released in 1968 (see 1968 in music). Considered a classic of the late-1960s psychedelic scene, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown includes covers of Screamin' Jay Hawkins and James Brown. The Crazy World of Arthur Brown peaked at #7 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart. The hit single "Fire" reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The first words of the song Fire - "I am the god of hell fire, and I bring you..." - is probably the most well-known soundbite of Arthur Brown's albums."-Wikipedia

"This classic album has been re-mastered and expanded to a two disc edition by the inclusion of rare single tracks, a BBC Radio One session from April 1968, alternate Mono mixes from the album sessions, and a version of Nightmare from the 1968 film, The Committee. Lavishly packaged in a slipcase with an extensively illustrated booklet with new essay, this is the ultimate edition of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown."
