Ant-Bee - Pure Electric Honey CD (Mega Blowout Sale)

SKU 23-HST120CD
This is one of the most vividly surreal albums I've ever listened to and I ain't complaining about that one damn bit.

“Ant-Bee indeed is left in obscurity, his recorded work are reflective of the psychedelic era of the 1960's. Primarily Ant-Bee's début, 'Pure Electric Honey' is mainly a psychedelic pop album in substance, which makes it easier to listen to, due to the sounds and melodies, that are excellently performed and palatable to anyone. Though after the first song (excluding Intro) 'Eating Chocolate Cake (In the Bath)' its clear that Ant-Bee has combined the more avant-garde and experimental side of music to his poppy work. The avant-garde sounds are woven into the pop sounds, with a scrambled vocal clips whizzing back and forth, pitches of vocals shifted to a more comical sound. Other experimental features like Musique concrète are very much present on this album, the loud drones of noise that may howl in every once and a while giving a drugged out atmosphere. This and the odd segmented noises in 'Black & White Cat, Black & White Cake' or the strange psychedelic mantra of the bagpipes on 'My Cat'. Eventually the album settles down after the jumpy and excitable 'Silly Fat Fingers'. 'The Wrong At Once (Has Gone)' is very accessible, with melodies rich with textures that are relaxing and rewarding. 'The Green Gin' is most a heavy set of field recordings and unorthodox sounds, the work is dark and sinister with the night-time sounds of crickets and the Japanese instruments makes this much more ritualistic in nature making it breathtaking and beautiful.
The last song 'Evolution #7 (Parts I-IV)' is a long jam of psychedelic pop with it a heavy emphasis on elements that are usual found in 1960's albums.
Ant-Bee's form of psychedelic music, is idiosyncratic and is extreme trippy, the combination of avant-garde elements together with the poppy sounds of psychedelic pop music is an achievement. Not so intimate and lunatic as Syd Barrett’s music, but has something of its madness. But it’s mostly electronic, not acoustic psychedelic pop. A great album that must be listened to.”-RYM
