Its a real pleasure to hear a new album of Freds songs. Hes rather shy about his singing, but he shouldnt be; he sounds like a cross between David Byrne, Christoph Anders and Robert Wyatt. The songs often make use of samples from well-known sources, and the album has to be the most user-friendly he has produced in years. This is Fred in real pop mode, a fascinating, and yes, commercial album.
