Gun - Reloaded CD + DVD

SKU 18-WW6
“Solid fourteen track collection of non-LP tracks from this legendary English band (it says so on right on the sticker!), which featured the talents of Adrian and Paul Gurvitz, later of Three Man Army, and so on, and Peter Dunton of the Flies, Please, Neon Pearl, and T2 fame—as well as a logo designed by Roger Dean; this package features BBC recordings made between 1968 and 1970, plus three unreleased studio cuts from an 80's reunion attempt. Good-to-great sound quality throughout, plus eight pages of thorough liner notes with rare pics, thanks to the full cooperation of Paul Gurvitz. DVD contains a German Beat Club performance of the band’s massive hit, ‘Race With The Devil.’”

“The Gun catalog (two LPs plus some non-LP singles) has been reissued by Repertoire and more recently on Grapefruit so most of the tracks here can be found on these two Repertoire/Grapefruit releases. However, this collection, pulled together by band bassist and song writer, Paul Gurvitz, has two versions of their pop psych gem, Lights On The Wall, their version of Sharon Tandy's Hold On, live versions of the two hits from their debut - Race With The Devil and Sunshine (Cream influenced track with a stunning solo) and BBC tracks including a version of Paul Simon's A Most Peculiar Man, Fever Tree's Man Who Paints Pictures and Unlock The Door. As a bonus, Paul has included a DVD featuring a 1968 live performance of Race With The Devil from German's The Beat Club. As a Gun fan, it is hard not to like this collection and it does show some dimensions you may not expect. Just as Gun wrapped it up, Three Man Army, one of the best of the power trios, exploded on the scene with A Third of a Lifetime.”
