This is by guitarist/composer Conor Mulroy. Also appearing are drummer/percussionist Ches Smith (Mary Halvorson, John Zorn, Secret Chiefs 3, Tim Berne, etc. etc) and bassist Jordan Alegant. It's interesting to see a jazz and 'out rock' player like Ches involved in this because this album is a alluring and unique amalgam of progressive rock, post-rock and metallic influences. The Glass Ocean consists of one nearly hour long piece. It has long acoustic parts (think Steve Tibbetts or Mike Oldfield), some spacey parts (think Mono) and long metal-influenced parts (think Gordian Knot) and somehow he sticks it all together into a flowing whole. Highly recommended!
