Radio Massacre International - Star Tide (band released CDR)

SKU NE008
In addition to their many albums, RMI have also released a number of very limited edition CDRs. The musical and sound quality of these releases is excellent; as good as their regular releases, but do remember that these are CDRs in simple, flat packaging. "This CDR release ventures back to the early days of RMI, and as one astute listener has already pointed out it is in many ways a precursor to 'Zabriskie Point'. The main piece was a huge excursion into infinity and timelessness, inspired by many nights up in Marske with the sea against the night sky. The depth of this piece came as a shock to us on playback and in many ways kick started the whole RMI thing of recording everything in the here and now live to two-track. In 1993 we had far less equipment but it doesn't seem to matter. The companion piece 'Monstrous Tides' arrived a few years later and is built around a series of happy accidents. The original loop is a mystery to both of us, and later when the piece was being transferred to another DAT, I pushed a video fader up by mistake and the speech from the programme I was watching ended up on the tape precisely as you hear it. We don't normally go for voice samples but this one had to stay."
