Baptiste is a rising star of the French jazz scene and has had a few albums also released internationally. He's a great pianist with some superficial similarities to Keith Jarrett (although I don't think he yells at the audience), but he's definitely his own man, if you really listen. I used to love solo piano music until the bad new age ones of the 1980s knocked out my taste for it for a number of years. Happily, I'm able to really enjoy it again and there's no shortage of great ones out there and this was a teriffic listen; he's both explorative and also lyrical. This is the hard to find hard-bound book version that includes the studio CD from 2005, but also a DVD of a live solo performance from 2003. Highly recommended to jazz piano fans.
