When ProgQuebec first started, one of my first requests to them was "can you reissue the two Harvest-label Maneige titles"? Maneige had a few periods and styles, but these two albums, their first two, were the most largely orchestrated (the band were a six piece at the time and each person played multiple instruments on the album). This isn't the hoped for reissues (they are slated to arrive in 2007), but it's basically as great!
"Never before released, this concert performed circa 1975 contains the entirety of the band's classic Les Porches album performed live, in addition to two tracks from the band's first album, and an unreleased 18-minute piece that is as good as anything they ever did. With surprisingly good sound quality and an excellent performance, it is a strong belated introduction of some of the band's finest music to a digital format. Longtime fans of Les Porches will appreciate the different arrangements used live, while the newly initiated will wonder why this band was not more celebrated in their time."
