The latest from PFM is a very good progressive rock album that, just like the old days, is available in both Italian *and* English language versions, and, also just like the old days, I think the Italian version is superior, but UNlike the old days, you get both versions for one price here!
Long long time members Franz Di Cioccio, Jan Patrick Djivas and Lucio Fabri are here, along with newer members guitarist Marco Sfogli and keyboardist Alessandro Scaglione!
PFM set the bar so high with their first releases that I think it would be impossible for me to say that they are good as they ever were, but, again, this is a very good work and any fan of PFM is certain to enjoy it completely.
Premiata Forneria Marconi is a very eclectic and exuberant musical group with a distinctive style that impressively combines rock, progressive, and classical music into one mesmerizing sonic entity. Formed in 1970 and celebrating its live debut in 1971 opening for Yes in Milano, the band quickly gained a prominent place on the international scene by making it to the Billboard charts (for 1973's 'Photos Of Ghosts'), winning a Gold record in Japan while constantly ruling the charts in their home country up until today.
Recorded between May to July 2017 at Metropolis Recording Studio with Alessandro Marcantoni, the new album takes a melodic prog rock route while offering surprising musical twists and turns including moody synths, orchestral arrangements, straight-forward guitar-driven passages and wonderful ballads. This diversity perfectly fits its lyrical approach as “Emotional Tattoos” finds its inspiration in a compassionate and wide look at the predicament of our planet and humanity as well as on the relationship between music and dreaming.
