“Krautrock 2 is the 2nd film in the Krautrock Trilogy, a mini-series of three feature documentary films that explores the classic German Krautrock bands that made music history in Germany during the late 1960s and early 1970s. This movement which involved inspirations from psychedelic, electronic, jazz, folk music, and noise music, came to be known as Krautrock.
The music spectrum of the Krautrock bands is broad and ranges from post rock, space rock, jazz and ambient electronica, to ethnographic raga and industrial noise. From today's perspective, it should be emphasized that many musicians experimented with the then novel synthesizer technology and thus laid the basis for a music that was never heard before.
The influence of the thoughtful, expansive compositions of these bands on Western pop music is obvious. They gave the key to the development of movements like Electronica, Techno, and minimalism and directly inspired artists like David Bowie, Eno, Talking Heads and others. The German Krautrock scene developed in regions such as Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Munich.
Krautrock 2 focuses on the classic Krautrock bands from the South of Germany and features the following bands:
