"In the late Sixties, Ekseption and Rick Van Der Linden were among the first musicians to create a blend of musical styles that went from classical music to pop and jazz. Extremely popular thanks to its instrumental covers of Ludwig Van Beethovan ("The Fifth") and Aram Khatsaturjan ("Sabre Dance"), the Dutch line-up was replaced by Trace in the year 1974. This new band followed in the path taken by Ekseption, becoming thus a progressive rock power-trio led by the keyboards of its virtuoso leader. A serious counterpart to Emerson, Lake and Palmer! "An Ekseptional Trace" includes a previously unreleased live recording of Trace in 1977, with Ian Mosley, future co-founder of Marillion on drums. Ekseption is also honored there with a stage performance of the band's revival in 2003. Two historical documents that are a tribute to the unique talent of Rick Van Der Linden, who recently passed away..."
