If this doesn’t make you think of “It’s Always Rock ‘n’ Roll” or “Agneta Nilsson”, in a very positive way, then I don’t know what to say! Excellent.
"The Brain's debut release Experiments for Guitar + Machines is also the debut release on Workshop of Filthy Creation, a label devoted to the exploration of noise, sound and music in an uncertain world. The Brain's initial album is a collection of experimental guitar/electronic soundscapes that recall the early work of Heldon, Cyborg-era Klaus Schulze, and the surreal kling-klang blitzkrieg of Conrad Schnitzler. Mesmerizing analog synthesizer drones collide with abrasive guitar textures to create dense sound collages that blur the distinction between industrial mayhem and ambient calm.
If the true essence of music lies in its inherent unpredictability, then The Brain's initial release fully captures this anarchistic spirit. It is an approach to music that has been nearly abandoned in this new sterile age of MIDI and the endless programming of beats, where music has become merely a commodity for mindless consumption and perfunctory excretion.”
“Very edgy, aggressive experimental electronic music. Similar to Heldon, Lard Free, and early Kluster. Possibly also comparable to the Italian artist M.B. and some Peter Frohmader, especially his first Nekropolis album. Angry, explosive guitar is paired with analog synthesizers (Moog and ARP) that conjure up images of radioactive wastelands and abandoned factories where the machines are still running. A pretty impressive debut. Cool cover, too. 4 out of 5 stars.”
