“This is the fourth studio album from District 97, and the first since the dual departures of original members, bassist Patrick Mulcahy and keyboardist Rob Clearfield. I can't say their losses are felt too much. New keyboarder Andrew Lawrence is a suitable replacement for Clearfield, and new bassist Tim Seisser might be a step up, on the chops side anyway, even soloing fluidly on a couple of these tracks.
What about the songs? Good news. Maybe this isn't a huge step up from their last album, but it kind of feels like it. Song for song, In Vaults was good, but it didn't leave me wanting to come back nearly as much as this one does. The first two songs here are closer to the stuff on the awesome, Trouble with Machines, than anything on Vaults. High praise from me. And Leslie Hunt continues to be one of prog music's best writer of vocal lines. Recommended.”-rateyourmusic
