Mentat Routage are a French avant/progressive-jazz/rock band, with the instrumentation of violin, xylophone, saxes/flute, keyboards, bass, drums. This is a really great music; it's experimental but it also just grooves. Live, they are a 'performance-oriented' band, as the youtube clip will show and man, that looks like fun, but on the album, it's just music and the music is strong. For fans of Canterbury-style jazz/rock, French avant-progressives like Potemkine, and more modern sounds such as Pitom and Gosta Berlings Saga. Highly recommended. Best thing I heard this week for sure.
