“Waves of Seeing is the first release from ZĀM, the high octane guitar-bass-drums trio of Anthony Pirog (The Messthetics), Andrew Colwell, and Dan Sharnoff. The trio has been playing music together since they first met in public school in Vienna, Virginia 25 years ago.
Rooted in structured improvisation and stretching the boundaries of genre ZĀM plays

First ever legit reissue of this too little known, but quite great early electronic / space / synthi album! Recommended!

"Originally released by Polydor in 1976, this first album by French electronic pioneer Pierre Salkazanov (a.k.a. Zanov) sees a welcome reissue on vinyl, accompanied by a free bonus 7-inch containing previously unavailable tracks.
A uniquely French slant on cosmic electronic music from the same scene that gave us Didier Bocquet, Richard Pinhas and Heldon, Jean Michel Jarre..

"Originally released by Polydor in 1978, this second album by French electronic pioneer Pierre Salkazanov (a.k.a. Zanov) sees a welcome reissue on vinyl, accompanied by a free bonus 7-inch containing previously unavailable tracks.
A uniquely French slant on cosmic electronic music from the same scene that gave us Didier Bocquet, Richard Pinhas and Heldon, Jean Michel Jarre.

“In 1972, Frank Zappa experimented with an "electric orchestra" concept which resulted in two albums: Waka/Jawaka and The Grand Wazoo. Celebrating the 50th-anniversary of this endeavor, Waka/Jawaka is available on 180-gram black vinyl LP.”

After Frank was thrown from the stage in London and broke his leg very badly, he was stuck in a wheelchair and couldn't tour for about 9 months. As Frank was always working, he decided to indulge himself in two larger-scale projects that wouldn't be practical...

"An unsurpassed milestone in European/African fusion, this is a head-on collision between traditional Central African vocals and uncompromising analog electronics. Resulting from a torrid encounter between Zairean singer Bony Bikaye, Algerian-born...

“Geographies was one of Hector Zazou's first ventures into an odd genre he would linger in for much of the next two decades: the soundtrack for an imaginary film. Mixing in influences from all across the stylistic spectrum, Zazou leavens the ingredients with an overriding sense of calm and even languor, his moody scores possessing a warm, humid quality. The pieces here are performed by what is essentially a chamber orchestra augmented by singers.
Listeners familiar with his forays into Afro-funk...

What a great idea! These are wonderful albums and Ralf und Florian won't let us hear them. So, you can hear Zeitkratzer do them!
"Karlrecords celebrates its tenth birthday, and Zeitkratzer celebrate their 20th with necessary re-interpretations of early compositions by electronic pioneers Kraftwerk. Founded in 1997 by Reinhold Friedl, Zeitkratzer have since been creating an impressive catalog of recordings that embraces 20th century avant-garde composers (Cage, Stockhausen, Lucier) as well as...

"Reinhold Friedl's Zeitkratzer proves the perfect ensemble for Oneirika, avant-garde veteran Elliott Sharp's composition/soundscape inspired by Cageian tradition that premiered at Maerzmusik Festival 2014. Zeitkratzer worked with Elliott Sharp for the first time in 1997, and have since been releasing several cooperations, including two duo releases of Zeitkratzer mastermind Reinhold Friedl and Elliott Sharp. Over the last 40 years the avant-garde musician has created an immense oeuvre: he has performed...

“Torbjörn Zetterberg's new record, Opinions, is not a conventional "solo" outing. It doesn't represent the bassist, composer, and bandleader stepping away from all that to prove his mettle as a virtuoso unaccompanied improvisor. Anyone familiar with Zetterberg's small group recordings needs no confirmation of his prowess. And anyway, strutting his stuff is not his vibe. Certainly not the vibe of this record, where the bassist plays more than bass, a solo venture on which he is occasionally joined by...

We did a deep dig into the lost warehouse to come up with these; they are new and unplayed, but they’ve been sitting for over 30 years and there may be small corner dings, seam splits from travel, etc etc.
These are the original issues on Points East, which was ReR’s pre-CD vinyl label ‘dedicated solely to new music from Central Europe’.

“This is an extraordinary record from a group who build their own instruments from metal, springs, transducers, electronic parts, as well playing more...

This is the latest, vinyl-only release by the UK trio featuring Andrew Prestridge and Andy and Matt Thompson. The group uses all analog keyboard (synths, mellotrons, etc), bass, guitar and drums. The band are obviously influenced by darker progressive...

“ZOMBI return with their new EP, Liquid Crystal! A 5 track EP, Liquid Crystal sees Steve Moore and A.E. Paterra continue to explore the very melodic sensibilities, synthscapes, and driving rhythmic section that propelled the band upon the release of their latest critically acclaimed full-length, 2020. Tracks such as "Black Forest" finds the band leaning on heavy grooves alongside soaring leads, while the opening "Mangler" oozes with ominous synths as crescendos build and build. Don't miss out on one of...

After far too long, a new one from this quite fabulous synths and drums instrumental duo. They've certainly kept busy as each half of the band has released solo albums and they toured the USA with Goblin, where I finally got to see them. While you can hear their influences clearly (Goblin! Heldon! 70s synth-disco Giorgio Moroder, Tangerine Dream!), they really just sound like Zombi at this point and no one else. This is a really strong one from them and this conceivably might be the one - if there ever....

“Originally released in 1979. Recorded live at WKCR Radio in New York City in 1978 and issued by Ictus the following year, Environment for Sextet encounters John Zorn at the earliest stages of his career, resting within a sextet of a new generation of stunning improvisers emerging at the tail end of the '70s who would go on to define a vast swath of the '80s sound -- Polly Bradfield on violin, Andrea Centazzo on percussion, Eugene Chadbourne on guitar, Tom Corra on cello, and Toshinori Kondo on trumpet...

Petra Haden: Vocals
Jesse Harris: Acoustic Guitar, Keys, Background Vocals
Kenny Wollesen: Drums
Julian Lage: Guitar
Jorge Roedor: Bass

“Singer Petra Haden excels in this beautiful and unique program of songs penned by the songwriting team of John Zorn and Jesse Harris.
Friends for many years, they began working together on The Song Project in 2012, and eight years later this CD presents the full fruits of their collaboration: thirteen Zorn compositions with...

"Since the late '60s the 'prog' term has always been synonymous with the breakdown of the classic song concept, thanks to the contamination of rock music with other genres. Based on this philosophy, Fabio Zuffanti brings the 'prog' concept to our days taking into account what, in terms of styles, is currently alive and pulsating: pop, electronic, avant-garde and much more. Easy to say, much more complicated to do: for this reason, between Zuffanti's previous solo record ("La Quarta Vittima", 2014) and...

"Peter Zummo presents Dress Code (Don't Look At My Car) on Optimo Music. Peter Zummo (born 1948) is an American composer and musician. He plays the trombone, valve trombone, euphonium, synthesizer, other electronic instruments, and also sings. He is associated with the post-minimalist and Downtown aesthetics, and he describes his music as "minimalism plus a whole lot more." He's well-known for his work with Arthur Russell."

"In this project for Optimo, the listener can hear that my musical food..

"Recorded live and in single takes, it features a stellar line-up of longtime ZUMMO collaborators: ARTHUR RUSSELL on amplified cello, BILL RUYLE on marimba, and MUSTAFA AHMED on congas. ZUMMO plays trombone and euphonium."

Well, here’s a name I never expected to type out again!
In the early to mid 1980s, Zut Un Feu Rouge were definitely one of Sweden's best avant/progressive/out rock bands, with...
