"In retrospect, we might suspect that Asmus Tietchens was deliberately leading us up the garden path with the discordant pseudo-pop of his early musical productions. Four albums between 1981-1983 and a handful of individual pieces comprise the...

"Bureau B reissues Asmus Tietchens' third solo album on Sky Records, originally released in 1982. It stands to reason that any musical journey undertaken by a skeptic like Asmus Tietchens is destined to head into the night (In die Nacht) rather than...

"Released in 1983, the Litia album concluded Asmus Tietchens' tudes phase and bid a farewell to rhythmic synths -- well, almost. All the signs of "pseudo pop" as heard on Biotop, Spt-Europa, and In die Nacht resurfaced: squeaky sounds and protracted...

"While Asmus Tietchens planned to head off "into the future" ("In die Zukunft") with Biotop (1981), Spt-Europa witnesses his arrival. Released on Sky Records in 1982, the second album in the "Zeitzeichen" phase not only continued in the style of its...

“Limited to just 300 copies worldwide, this audiophile pressing has been optimised to offer the widest possible dynamic range.
The Whispering of the World”, though released as the sixth Tiger Moth Tales album, was actually recorded back in January of 2020 at the fabulous Fieldgate Studios in South Wales. This stripped back, intimate collection of songs features just Jones at the grand piano and a string quartet.
Pete: ”It was amazing to work with string players, and there were many times where...

Myra Melford-piano
Joelle Leandre-double bass
Nicole Mitchell-flute, alto flute, piccolo
"How fierce should a musical tiger trio be? The three produce unique, affirmative music that demands no qualifiers!"

"San Francisco, California's Tigon unleash a colossal set of splendid post-hardcore noise rock on their debut full length, Infinite Teeth. Driving, dynamic, and dissonant, this music is intelligent and challenging, bristling with swagger. Opting for...

This is a hand-numbered, hand-packaged, limited edition of 500 copies on blue vinyl!“

Another true masterpiece. A Mid Autumn Night's Dream faithfully report a one-shot concert that took place at Conservatorio Nicolini in Piacenza on October 1st, 2016. The four giants of new music never played together before: Keith Tippett, Julie Tippetts, Lino Capra Vaccina, and Paolo Tofani. As the lights turned off something magic started. A spontaneous interplay, an amazing flowing of notes. The subject was...

Sally Gates – Guitar
Matt Hollenberg – Bass VI
Kenny Grohowski – Drums
Trevor Dunn – Bass on “Everybody's Dead, Dave”

“Titan to Tachyons is a new trio led by guitarist Sally Gates (ex Orbweaver, Gigan), backed by the powerhouse rhythm section of Kenny Grohowski (Secret Chiefs 3, Brand X, etc) and Matt Hollenberg (Cleric, John Zorn). Instrumentally depicting the realms of surrealistic sci-fi, the band make use of angular and experimental passages, juxtaposed by fluid grooves and..

“This is an official re-release of Titus Groan's eponymous album originally released 1970 on Dawn under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG.
Titus Groan were a short-lived British jazz-rock quartet, named after the first 'Gormenghast' novel by Mervyn Peake. The original album contained five tracks all over five minutes long, including one extended suite 'Hall Of Bright Carvings' with a running time of nearly twelve minutes...

“Bandiera Di Carta represents the ongoing collaboration between instrument builder and composer Pierre Bastien and the London based experimental duo Tomaga (Valentina Magaletti and Tom Relleen). Bastien has been called a "mad musical scientist with a celebrity following" by The Guardian (UK) having collaborated with the likes of filmmaker Pierrick Sorin, fashion designer Issey Miyake, singer and composer Robert Wyatt as well as Aphex Twin, who released three of his albums on his label Rephlex. Tomaga...

“The second album (1972) by German progressive rock band Tomorrow's Gift featured original members Manfred Rürup and Bernd Kiefer, plus the newly recruited drummer Zabba Lindner, known from Sphinx Tush and various records for the Ken exploitation label (Live Experience Band etc). Produced by the famous Conny Plank, this album sounds better than the highly rated debut-LP.
Musically this is more in the progressive jazz-rock vein, with forceful keyboard and bass-interplay, sounding like a Zappa...

“Hip To The Jag, Kavus Torabi's debut solo album, is a blissfully skewed swan dive into the swirling cosmic kaleidoscope of the poet's soul. From spectral, intricate and fragile compositions to psychedelic, joyous and open drone-scapes, it is brave, beautiful and beguiling throughout.
Kavus Torabi's songs dwell on mortality, love and loss. He uses disquieting themes as a way of establishing a context for transcendent bliss.
Over the last two decades, as one of Britain's most inventive songwriters.

"In 1987, RAFAEL TORAL began making his own compositions and solo recordings. 30 years later, these recordings sound remarkably prescient and perfectly timeless—almost fresher today than when they were first released. Rafael has spent the time since then developing his conceptions, with continued explorations in the many records that have followed. On the 30th anniversary of his start, Drag City is reissuing Sound Mind Sound Body and Wave Field, his first two long out-of-print albums, on vinyl for the...

Manfred Herter - guitars
Franz Brandt – electric piano
Hermann Josef Basten - flute, guitar

This was the one and only album released by this German jazz/rock obscurity during their lifetime. This is the first time it has been reissued.

“Progressive rock band from Aachen, Germany circa 1971 to 1974. During their lifetime they recorded one SWF radio session and an album.
Their style mixed jazzy and classical touches, and elements as diverse as Jethro Tull, Amon Düül II or Vinegar.”

SO: Apparently, Tortilla Flat recorded this radio session whic

"First ever vinyl reissue of the 1973 Tall Records LP, expanded into a 2xLP set to house magical bonus material. These live recordings capture the band at its most open and transcendental peak, 1972. Features a staggering 26-plus-minute bonus track previously only available on CD, plus an entirely unreleased track. Includes an extended version of one of the original album tracks. Scores of previously unseen ephemera adorn the lavish inside gatefold and inner sleeves. Includes download code with added...

This archival release by Sweden's rightly legendary Trad Gras och Stanar is revelatory and, imo, is the single best record by them. The final culmination of the musicians from Parson Sound, Harvester & International Harvester, this excellent quality for the time period. archival release is the stoner/pounding id classic you would want it to be! Highly recommended!

"A true landmark and cornerstone in Swedish psychedelic music history. There's nothing like this bunch of progressive hippie Swedes...

"The long-awaited new album from the legendary pioneers of transcendental psychedelic rock music and DIY culture in general. Tack För Kaffet (So Long) is a tribute to the deceased band members and dearest friends Torbjörn Abelli and Thomas Mera Gartz. It becomes something of a farewell show for the old Träd, Gräs Och Stenar because all the old and new members, including founder Bo Anders, Torbjörn and Mera, and Reine Fiske (Dungen, The Amazing), are all contributing to this album. The sounds were...

“A brand-new studio album from Träden ("The Trees"), formerly known as Träd, Gräs och Stenar ("Trees Grass and Stones") in different incarnations, but often just called Träden for short. Through long, crescendoing improvisations, Träden has found their own unique path in the music world for decades, creating a music with room for everyone. Many younger musicians and friends of minimalist, experimental music have been inspired and followed, astonished that a bunch of Swedish hippies made the planet's...

Two stunning BBC sessions from the heyday of the British band. One recorded before the release of the debut album on Island, Mr. Fantasy, the second -- December 11th -- right after. Facing the beginning of a new groove ideology after the blues explosion.

A3. Coloured Rain (3:13)

A5. Smiling Phases (2:39)

"Three different radio sessions from winter and the hot summer of '68."

A3. 40000 Headmen (4:02)
A4. Blindman (5:13)

July 15, 1968:
B4. Pearly Queen (5:01)...

One of the greatest bands to emerge in the year of the summer of love, their “Mr Fantasy” album is my favorite psychedelic album.
These BBC sessions have been out many times in many ways, but if you don’t have them, they present an alternative look at many of the tracks from Mr Fantasy & more!

“Steve Winwood, Dave Mason, Chris Wood and Jim Capaldi formed Traffic in April 1967. Expectations ran high and were triumphantly met by Paper Sun, which became a smash hit upon release in May (and,,,

"The title of the debut album from The Transcendence Orchestra outlines the modus operandi of this pairing of Anthony Child and Daniel Bean. Recorded in a remote English rural setting over a period of 24 hours, this is an apt location for a recording that eschews time and space in favor of methodological displacement and deep psychological navigation. Modern Methods For Ancient Rituals is an experiment in acoustic and synthetic symbiosis which is deeply influenced by the atmosphere and acoustics of the....

This reissues an insanely rare 1973 album on the insanely rare Futura label. Traveling were a keyboard trio led by Yves Hasselmann. His piano & Hammond organ workouts are comparable to a lighter Dave Stewart or Mike Ratledge, while the rhythm section provide decent support. His vocals are also pleasant & fluent. For folks who dig the trio Hammond keyboard sound of bands like Collegium Musicum, 69-era Softs, Egg & Canterbury-style bands.

Sebastian Strinning tenor saxophone, bass clarinet

"In 2009 American percussionist and composer Gerry Hemingway relocated in Luzern, Switzerland, and found himself in a thriving community of musicians and artists with whom he has forged new relationships. Chief among those relationships are the guitarist Manuel Troller [of Schnellertollermeier] and saxophonist and bass clarinetist Sebastian Strinning. As a group they began exploring...

"Extremely rare live in studio recordings of one of England's most superlative female-fronted acid folk bands, recorded in 1971 and 1972 with DJ Bob Harris for BBC Radio 1. Formed in London in 1969, Trees have been likened to a more psychedelic...

"A symphonic prog band that defined Flamenco progressive and were the foremost Spanish progressive band. These guys, at times, remind me a lot of King Crimson in their early days, yet were a genre in themselves. With poetically styled songs, gorgeous flamenco guitar, and a very Spanish sound, Triana are a must to try, being a very important progressive band. Any of their first four El Patio, Hijos Del Agobio, Sombra Y Luz and Un Encuentro are all worth the find."- Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock

"Back in the early Oughts, there was a great UK folk rock combo called The Eighteenth of May. They did one album and cut out. Trimdon Grange Explosion is that band, minus two members, and their debut LP kicks up one of the finest blends of UK folk and West Coast psych since the glory days of Fairport. Alison Cotton and Mark Nicholas (also of Left Outsides) comprise half the band, alongside guitarist Ben Phillipson and drummer Karl Sabino. And their vibe is akin to a classic Witchseason production...

"Once upon a time...back in the ancient era of the 70s there was a fantastic but little known German fusion band called Katamaran. They made three phenomenal albums that would send Return To Forever fans into ecstasy. Then they were gone. Guitarist Franz Holtmann is 1/3 of Trinity Xperiment.
A bit later in the 90s...perhaps not so ancient...there was an intense German fusion band called Matalex. Keyboardist Matthias Krauss was an active member. He is 1/3 of Trinity Xperiment...

On their third, Atlantide (1972), there is a shift in personnel, as their guitarist and drummer left. Original members Joe Vescovi (keyboards & vocals) and Arvid Wegg Andersen (bass & vocals) remain. The guitarist is not replaced, but the new drummer is Furio Chirico, soon to amaze the world with Arti E Mestieri!
So, they became a keyboard/bass/drums trio and were obviously now influenced by ELP. This album and their 4th and last one soon after, reflect that sound.
In 2010 the reunion of the....

“Caronte 50 Years Later is the new studio album by The Trip led by historical drummer and leader Pino "Caronte" Sinnone. The historic album Caronte, released in 1971, would have turned 50 and for the occasion was recorded in full by the new formation of the band with a more current sound.
Today the band consists of Andrea "Ranfa" Ranfagni (vocals), Carmine Capasso (vocals, guitars, sitar, theremin), Tony Alemanno (bass, backing vocals), Andrea "Dave" D'Avino (hammond, piano, backing vocals)...

"The Norwegian quartet The Tronosonic Experience are releasing their eponymous debut album. The album was recorded live in three intense December days at Ocean Sound Recordings, a studio located literally on brink of the Atlantic Ocean on the remote island of Giske on the western coast of Norway. The Tronosonic Experience represents a departure from Losen Records rooster of jazz artists, and is a powerful outing of instrumental rock. The band describes their music as "punk-jazzavant- rock", and is...

"Heather Trost is best known for her work composing and performing as one half of A Hawk And A Hacksaw. She has also played with Neutral Milk Hotel, Beirut, Josephine Foster, and most recently Thor Harris of Swans. She has arranged and performed with the BBC Concert Orchestra, as well as conductor Andre De Ridder and his Stargaze Orchestra, and toured throughout the world.
In 2014 she released her first solo project, a 7-inch on Ba Da Bing Records, followed in 2015 by Ourobouros, a limited edition..

Rolf Trostel-Der Prophet $18.00 "Electronic pop was the musical goal of the Berlin School musician Rolf Trostel on Der Prophet (1982), which was released in the same year as its predecessor Two Faces. Der Prophet is the culmination of this phase of Trostel's oeuvre, which was tightly coupled to the PPG Wave Computer. As on his previous releases, the sonic peculiarities and clanking sounds of wavetable synthesis are emphasized. Yet here they are obviously more interlinked with the rhythm computer...

Nice to see a quality reissue of this 1981 electronic music release; we carried this in its original lp format when it was first released by Rolf himself in the early 80s.
Rolf worked with the great Gnter Schickert in the late 70s, performing live, improvised concerts with him and this music, while not featuring Schickert, is based on that experience, so while it isn't 'analog paradise', it is also firmly rooted in the classic style and mental space of the classic Berlin-style electronic sound....

"Bureau B present a reissue of Rolf Trostel's second album Two Faces, originally released in 1982. While Inselmusik, released the previous year, was intended as a basis for live performance, Trostel composed and produced the five instrumental tracks on Two Faces exclusively for this album. The music is clearly a product of the Berlin School, yet it is more sophisticated and varied than its predecessor. Some new additions to Trostel's instrument collection are audible. While on its predecessor the still...

“The iconic Robin Trower returns with No More Worlds To Conquer. For more than six decades, Robin Trower's career has known no bounds. At the age of 76, the British guitarist can reflect on a journey in which he has planted flags across the musical sphere and played every role imaginable. Few would dispute that the title of Trower's latest album is a fair summary of the thumbprint he has left on the musical universe. But as he reminds us, it should not be misinterpreted as his mission being accomplished...

Lp re-issue of the music for the classic Australian surf movie filmed by Paul Witzig in 1971, starring Wayne Lynce, Nat Young and Ted Spencer. The music was all written & performed by a psychedelic rock acid folk outfit called Tully featuring Richard Lockwood and Michael Carlos. The band that recorded Sea of Joy was the precocious child of two very different creatures, Tully the First (wild psychedelic & spiritual progressive rock) and Extradition (ethereal acid folk sounds, later survived the album entitle

"Curiously, the Norwegian prog-folkies’ fifth album – their “first for (and with) children”– comes recommended to fans of Van der Graaf and Crimson, so it’s something of a shock to encounter a set of proglite Euro-ditties featuring an Oslo school kiddie choir. The title means Urban Wildlife but the three men dressed in squirrel, badger and crow outfits on the cover should’ve warned something gruesome was afoot. The band say the (Norwegian-sung) lyrics for the two school musicals here are attacking the...

"Yet only another six month wait for a new Tusmørke release, right on the heels of the children's prog album Bydyra and is the logical followup to Hinsides as it's back to an adult approach. Children's chorus gone, so are the badger, squirrel and crow costumes back to their usual robes. The lineup is the same as usual, Benediktator (Benedikt Momrak), brother Krizla (Kristoffer Momrak), the Phenomenon Marxo Solinas (Lars Frederik Frøislie) and HlewagastiR (Martin Nordrum Kneppen). Håkon Oftung...

This is an unbelievably beautiful and HEAVY WEIGHT package with the thickest cardboard for the gatefold jacket I have ever seen!

In the last 5 years or so, this group has emerged as one of the best progressive rock bands from Norway. Their two previous albums were great and this one is great too.

Lots of flute and and lots of folk & classical influences on the music that will lead to comparisons with Jethro Tull, which are fine and accurate, but no way is Tusmörke a 'Tull clone', as ...

"We were suitably impressed by the previous release from psychedelic prog/folk band Tusmørke, and they’re now back with their next effort Hinsides and it’s another stunning offering from them. There’s something quietly stunning about how they approach their music and it’s a pleasure to listen to as a result.
There’s a little more colour and embellishments to their music this time round, making for a little more variation in the piece, and there’s a hypnotic beauty to it all. The combination of the...

“We explore various local history and myth in Oslo in this omnibus. Yes, it is a concept album. At the same time, it is a collection of curios. Vardøger are premonitions of the immediate future, a strong feeling preceding an actual event, or rather appearance. Just before a person arrives in a place, his footsteps precede him and there is the sound of a door opening. No one is there. Then, later, he comes. Utburder are infants carried into the woods at birth. Their cries resound at night as a haunting...

"Cacophonic present a first time vinyl reissue of a pioneering album of French free jazz, François Tusques's Free Jazz, originally released in 1965. Comprising some of the earliest, uninhibited performances from musicians behind groundbreaking European records and films, Free Jazz captures the birth of an exciting movement that would soon earn its Parisian birthplace as the go-to European spiritual home of improvised and avant-garde music. Spearheaded by pianist and composer François Tusques, this 1965...

Smiling At Grief was recorded at Woodcray Manor Farm Studios, Berkshire in November 1981, and released on cassette in 1982.

“TWELFTH NIGHT’s 1982 Smiling At Grief album was the first music released with new vocalist, Geoff Mann. With the 40th anniversary arriving in 2022, it was decided to celebrate Smiling At Grief by releasing a ‘brand-new’ version...

"Highly inventive kraut / psych album (heavy on the psych) related to Eulenspygel. Originally released in 1975, Sexphonie offers a mix of acid-rock, hard-psych, polit-rock and progressive / folky sounds with some eastern influences. Great studio production and outstanding guitar playing courtesy of Teflon Fonfara (who once blew up Camels PA system with his tape and delay guitar effects!). Tyll was formed when Teflon was approached by Kerston Records with the intention of releasing a krautrock album...
